Bodo/Glimt has earned 497 million kroner in European revenue after their success in last year's European cups. This is an increase of 125 percent compared to the previous year. The revenue from these two participations has contributed to the massive revenue increase at Aspmyra. The success of Glimt has also contributed to a 25 percent increase in revenue in Eliteserien in 2025 to a record high of 2.7 billion kroner, according to Deloitte. The clubs have reached record levels on several fronts in 2025, with their total costs exceeding 3 billion kroner for the first time. The main reason was the increased personnel costs for players, coaches, and support staff. The increased revenue has also led to increased spending on player purchases. The clubs have purchased players for a record high of 654 million kroner in the past year, an increase of 60 percent from the previous record in 2024. We now see that Eliteserien has stabilized at a high level in terms of player purchases. The clubs are serious about their investment, where parts of the record-high sales revenue are reinvested in player purchases, says Emilie Finnevolden Gooderham in Deloitte. The sale of players has also ended the year close to the record year of 2023. For the second time, players were sold for over 1 billion kroner in total. The sale of Sverre Nypan to Manchester City broke the record for the most expensive Norwegian player sold from Eliteserien, and a total of five players were sold for over 50 million kroner in 2025. The revenue from player sales has become an important and integrated part of club economics. Only four clubs deliver a profit without player sales, while 14 of 16 clubs have a positive result after player sales, says Norsk Toppfotball's managing director Jens Haugland. The Toppfotballbarometer also points out that Viking took their first series gold since 1991, despite having the fifth highest cost level in the league. Sandefjord overperformed the most in relation to costs, ending eight places higher than the budget would have allowed. Molde stood out with the opposite trend. Despite having the second highest cost level, they only ended up in 10th place on the table.
